Chris Humphreys: Director

Chris is a director, actor, playwright, theatre teacher, and fight arranger. He is also an award-winning novelist. Trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Chris has acted on stages from London’s West End to Hollywood. Memorable roles include Hamlet, Krapp, in Krapp’s Last Tape, the title role in Ibsen’s The Master Builder and Tom in David Hare’s, Skylight. His plays have been produced in London, Calgary and Vancouver. His latest, Shakespeare’s Rebel, an adaptation of his novel, premiered at Bard on the Beach, Vancouver, in 2015. As artistic director of Theatre Alive on Salt Spring Island, he has directed a number of staged readings as well as full productions of A Midsummer Nights Dream in Mouat Park, Shakespeare’s Wake at ArtSpring, and his own one man show, Shakespeare 1600 which he toured around the Southern Gulf Islands. Chris is presently appointed Writer in Residence at the Vancouver Public Library (2021). The most recent of his may novels is Someday I'll Find You published by Double Day Canada.
